Rhubarb

Rhubarb is a 5 storey development of 18 office units located opposite the Custard Factory in Digbeth, Birmingham.

The building has been constructed using a lightweight steel structure and the external skin uses a hard blue engineering brick – a direct reference to the adjacent railway viaduct.

The emphasis of this project is on low energy use, which promotes lower running costs for tenants. A section of green wall on the side of the building facing the Old Crown pub, Birmingham’s oldest inn, lowers the building’s carbon footprint.

The building is heated and cooled using low-cost renewable energy and each office unit comes with its own folding bicycle to encourage commuters to leave their cars at home.
