Ellis Cresswell
It is the relationship between architecture and mental well-being that stands out as one of my central interests. The way well designed homes can improve a persons mood is something I feel should never be overlooked.
We as architects must band together to promote a move away from the employment of systems which can negatively affect our well-being. Systems that use architecture as simply a way to maximise profit by minimising space, light and storage, whilst ignoring contextual issues by producing generic designs are repeated the country over.
Using a more lateral approach that responds to the immediate needs of the local population and that is meaningfully influenced by its context is our job as architects, designers and humanists to fulfill.
