Opportunity to work on a unique contemporary art programme at BPN Architects, in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, UK.

three is a 9 month long arts programme that reflects the most current and exciting art talent found in the West Midlands right now.  three presents to audiences a cross section of art practices and artists, offering recent graduates their first solo show exhibitions as well as adding a couple of more established artists into the mix.

three launches in October 2013 with a solo show by Edward Wakefield and will be held at at 3 Mary Street, Birmingham.

We are looking for two enthusiastic and reliable people to join our team for 2 one-person internships.

Internship 1 dates: October 2013 – end of February 2014

Internship 2 dates: beginning of March – June 2014

Responsibilities will include:

  • Distribute exhibition flyers around Birmingham
  • Be available during exhibition installation (av. 1 day per show) to help with hanging shows, running errands, keeping the site presentable and assisting the manager and artist
  • Be available for the launch events (av. 1 day per show) to help with hosting the event, making the site ready for the public, liaising with artists and manager prior to event to make sure it runs smoothly and that any and all equipment works, and to tidy the space at the end of the evening
  • Be available during take down of the exhibition (av. 1 day per show)
  • Work closely with and support the programme manager on general administrative tasks
  • Represent three and be able to speak about it enthusiastically and promote it to the general public and contemporaries

An interest in the arts would be a benefit but we are happy to open this opportunity up to anyone who would like to be involved.

Things you can expect from the opportunity:

  • Be introduced to a new network of architects and arts practitioners
  • Learn and develop your own arts marketing skills
  • Work as an assistant to artists
  • Learn curation skills and how exhibitions are conceived, managed and realised
  • General arts administrative and curatorial experience which will help with future employment
  • Your travel costs covered (dependent upon successful funding)
  • Work with a successful and engaging team who recently organised the critically acclaimed Thrift Radiates Happiness exhibition.
