Richard Newman

Legibility and simplicity of design is always my aim. And context is key. I believe that great buildings and places can only result from the perfect mix of client, design team, and contractor. Architecture should be site specific. I am interested in buildings which demonstrate a clear understanding of their context – the materials and forms should respond to what is already there.

I arrived in Birmingham in 1987. Three years at Associated Architects followed graduation before the formation of BPN. I love working with the talented people here in the practice, and I’m forever delighted by their creativity and professionalism.
