2014 is the year we finally stopped using The Green Invoice Book. BPN set up practice in 1996 and we inherited an accounts system. The green book held a record of every invoice we ever raised and actually goes back to 1982 – the start of the system we inherited – which makes it older than most of the people in this office. It’s fallen apart more times than I care to remember and we stopped needing it long ago, but old habits die hard and we would diligently add every invoice to the book until we finally made the switch to an online accounts system in October this year. For the time being, our old friend The Green Invoice Book will be stored in the archive room in a box marked “nostalgia” until someone with a ruthless streak (and a desperate need to free up some storage space) has the courage to throw it out.
